2023 Katrina Remembrance Service

  • Waveland's Ground Zero Museum 335 Coleman Avenue Waveland, MS, 39576 United States (map)

It is time once again to hold our annual Katrina Remembrance Service at Waveland's Ground Zero Hurricane Museum. This yearly event remembers the lives lost during Hurricane Katrina in 2005; reflects on the impact the storm had on our community; honors the courageous first responders who served when we needed them most and who continue to do so to this day; and celebrates the amazing resilience that is the core of our coastal community. Please come join us on Tuesday, August 29th at 10am at WGZM for this special remembrance event.

We are so pleased to have Father Sebastian Myladiyil, SVD, join us this year for our service. Father Sebastian was the parish priest at St. Rose de Lima, a local church, during Hurricane Katrina. He will share his Katrina experiences along with stories from community members. He has chronicled these stories in his book, “Blown Together Trials and Miracles of Katrina”, which is available at the museum. After the service he will be doing a meet & greet and signing copies of his book.
